PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) is experienced social services leaders to join our organization as the Regional Director for our Santa Barbara Programs.

Since its foundation in 1984, PATH has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing. 

PATH Santa Barbara is proud to offer a wide range of supportive services that help people experiencing homelessness in the community obtain and maintain stable, permanent housing. Current programs include Outreach, Interim Housing, and Permanent Supportive Housing.

The Regional Director of Santa Barbara leads and oversees all administrative functions, clinical programming, and community relations functions for PATH Santa Barbara. Responsibilities of the Regional Director include:
  • Administration
    • Administering and overseeing all programs and staff to ensure integration of evidence-based practices and PATH values into daily work, standards of excellence, and adherence to contract requirements and program polices
    • Performing program develop and expansion activities in line with PATH’s mission and the needs of the community
    • Working collaboratively and strategically with other PATH programs and community partners to support a seamless and coordinate system of care
  • Program Management
    • Providing direct management of the Director of Programs, program managers, and other direct reports
    • Providing leadership and guidance for all Santa Barbara program staff
    • Analyzing program data to identify trends and make projections and recommendations for program modifications
    • Identifying staff development needs and working closely with the team to bring in training opportunities for professional growth
    • Responding to emergency and priority situations, resolving grievances, and troubleshooting incidents
    • Ensuring overall policies, procedures, and practices are in line with respective funding sources and PATH’s goals and values
  • Program Budgets
    • Overseeing and managing program and facility budgets and spending
    • Assisting the PATH Finance and Compliance departments with modifying and adjusting budgets
    • Developing strategies around expenditures and make recommendations to improve current or future fiscal years
  • Government & Community Engagement
    • Building strong relationships with the city, county, and other government entities and funders, and local stakeholders to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships
    • Representing PATH as a leader in homeless services in the region
    • Attending government and public meetings as a representative of PATH
    • Collaborating with PATH’s management team to develop and implement strategies that effectively disseminate information and education regarding PATH’s presence in the region
  • Reports, Contracts, & Compliance
    • Reviewing and authorizing all program and contracts reports prior to submittal
    • Assembling full department reports through the evaluation of reports from associate directors and program managers
    • Performing periodic audits
    • Attending all site monitoring visits
  • Fundraising
    • Partnering with PATH’s Development team to create and manage effective local strategies, giving opportunities, and events for raising both private and public funds
    • Identifying and cultivating relationships with local funders, foundations, philanthropists, and the business community
    • Providing content for social media (such as success stories) on a weekly basis and as needed

We’re looking for candidates that:
  • Have grant writing, fundraising, and donor cultivation experience
  • Have experience with HMIS
  • Creatively problem-solve and come up with effective solutions
  • Possess a high level of tolerance and understanding for individuals with urgent and multiple case management and health needs
  • Work just as well independently as they do on a team
  • Exercise mature judgement, and are highly motivated, self-starting and proactive
  • Are excellent at communicating, whether in writing or verbally
  • Have a strong sense of prioritization and can coordinate multiple demands in a high-pressure environment

For this role the Regional Director must:
  • Be committed to ending homelessness in the Santa Barbara community and beyond
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services or social services related field; Master’s in Social Work (MSW) or social services related field highly preferred
  • Have at least 5 years of experience managing programs and staff in the social services space
  • Have experience leading large-scale programs and systems change
  • Demonstrate a work history of achieving success with increasing leadership and management responsibilities over time
  • Have experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Be proficient with computers as a work tool, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including:
    • The ability to effectively and professionally represent the interests of the agency
    • The ability to successfully build relationships and collaborate with a diverse range of individuals at all organization levels
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Have reliable transportation and:
    • A valid driver’s license
    • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
    • The ability to qualify for PATH insurance coverage
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
    • Tuberculosis Test
    • Background Screening
    • Drug Test

Effective 11/01/2021 PATH will require all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. All prospective hires will be expected to provide proof of full vaccination as part of the pre-employment credentialing process.
