PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) is seeking an experienced social services leader with a proven success in serving vulnerable populations to join our rapidly growing organization as the Director for our South County Programs. WHAT WE DO
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.
Our South County Programs department operates a full range of programs providing a variety of supportive services designed to assist individuals experiencing homelessness obtain and maintain stable housing. These include and street outreach programs which primarily serve LA County's SPAs 6, 7, and 8.
WHAT IS THE DIRECTOR OF SOUTH COUNTRY PROGRAMS?
The Director of South County Programs serves as part of PATH’s program leadership team who provide program oversight to ensure upmost quality of services and strategic leadership for the organization and its mission. The Director actively works to further PATH’s mission by developing both staff and programs through promoting innovation and the implementation of best practices. Responsibilities of the Director include:
WHAT YOU BRING
- Clinical Services Supervision
- Supervising, training, and overseeing the development of department staff
- Overseeing and evaluating clinical case consultations within programs to ensure effective service delivery
- Creating, managing and overseeing a robust clinical internship program with local universities
- Program and Staff Management, Development and Evaluation
- Utilizing available data and current thinking within homeless services and supportive housing to inform program development
- Ensuring appropriate data collection and reporting as required by funders
- Collaborating with the leadership team to establish, implement and maintain policies and protocols that ensure the use of best practices and upmost quality and effectiveness of provided services
- Assisting with the evaluation of new funding opportunities and developing proposals when appropriate
- Assisting with personnel functions within the programs including staffing, training, workload planning, scheduling, performance evaluations, and addressing staff concerns
- Mentoring and developing Associate Directors by creating Leadership Development Plans that identify concrete ways to expand their capacity and expertise
- Agency Representation
- Maintaining effective relationships with partners and working to develop and manage key strategic partnerships
- Fostering relationships in the community with a variety of stakeholders including local service providers, government entities, and community partners
- Participating in regional, area or other planning meetings to serve as a spokesperson for the agency as necessary
- Representing the agency at local and national conferences by developing and submitting proposals that position PATH as national authority in emerging homeless services
We’re looking for candidates that:
- Demonstrate flexibility, acute problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Have a strong background in program and staff development
- Demonstrate proficiency with technology including the use of computers, Microsoft Office and data management systems
- Are familiar and comfortable working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, co-occurring disorders and history of trauma
- Have experience and familiarity with:
- Psychosocial assessment, individual and group therapy, short-term, evidence-based counseling, and crisis intervention
- Government contract reporting
- Evidence-based practices effective with chronically homeless individuals such as Housing First, harm reduction and critical time intervention
- Supervising licensed staff and providing clinical supervision
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills including strong skills in written and verbal communication and the ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals
For this role the Director must:
- Hold a Master’s Degree in Social work (strongly preferred) OR have an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Have at least 5 years of experience supervising work with diverse, vulnerable populations in a complex environment
- Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
- Have employment eligibility verification
- Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
- Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
- Have reliable transportation and:
- A valid driver’s license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
- The ability to qualify for PATH insurance coverage
- Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
- Tuberculosis Test
- Background Screening
- Drug Test
PATH will require all employees to be fully vaccinated
