PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) qualified socials services leaders to join our Permanent Supportive Services team as an Associate Director. This position will over see the start-up operations of our ICMS program in Long Beach as well as other programs under the ICMS umbrella.

WHAT WE DO
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing. 

PATH’s Intensive Case Management Services (ICMS) Programs provide services to individuals experiencing homelessness with chronic medical conditions and co-occurring disorders and who are high utilizers or the Department of Health Services (DHS) hospital and outpatient system.

WHAT IS AN ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR?
Using a hands-on, lead-by-example approach, the Associate Director provides administrative and supervisory oversight to their assigned ICMS programs. They utilize their expertise to provide guidance and clinical consultation in the areas of direct client services, building community partnerships, and program management to ensure the upmost quality of services delivered and overall success of the programs. Responsibilities of the Associate Director include:
  • Program Management & Oversight
    • Collaborating with the Director of Programs to ensure successful implementation, service coordination, achievement of performance measures, and service evaluation
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for program matters
    • Providing administrative oversight of the team including, but not limited to, documentation quality assurance and weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting
    • Generating regular and ad hoc reporting for timely submission to management and funders
    • Accepting and processing funder referrals, tracking and logging participant financial support, and conducting check-in calls with funders and partners
  • Program Development
    • Collaborating with PATH leadership to cultivate relationships with partners and funders that contribute to the growth of the program
    • Collaborating with PATH’s Development team to strategize on funding opportunities and grant writing
    • Serving as a proxy for other PATH leaders at community stakeholder meetings
  • Staff Support & Development
    • Provide direct supervision to all staff managing the ICMS programs
    • Planning and scheduling ongoing workload assignments
    • Conducting weekly supervision meetings
    • Handling employee performance management including providing regular feedback, performance evaluations, and improvement plans as needed
    • Providing regular one-on-one training to staff by working alongside them in the course of their work
    • Monitoring and verifying services provided to each client on a monthly basis
    • Facilitating case conferencing on challenging cases to provide insight and guidance
  • Program Outreach
    • Educating, networking with, and representing the program to local agencies, coalitions, community stakeholders, governments, law enforcement, and other organizations
    • Assisting with program outreach interventions
    • Building relationships with community service providers to ensure seamless referral services
  • Program Compliance & Evaluation
    • Reviewing and authorizing all program and contract reports prior to submittal
    • Reviewing and explaining contract scopes and services to staff
    • Submitting regular reports
    • Performing regular internal audits
    • Collaborating with the evaluation team to ensure program level data is uses to assess and manage program staff and program and client outcomes

WHAT YOU BRING
We’re looking for candidates that:
  • Demonstrate excellent leaderships skills with a proven lead-by-example work style
  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work (preferred)
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills including presenting and public speaking
  • Demonstrate strong skills with computers and technology including Microsoft Office Suite, HMIS, and database software used to track work outputs
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Have strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals at all organization levels and represent the interests of the agency
  • Effectively resolve and cope with immediate crisis situations
  • Possess a high level of tolerance and understanding for individuals with urgent and multiple case management and health needs
  • Work just as well independently as they do on a team
  • Exercise mature judgement, and are highly motivated, self-starting and proactive
  • Are excellent at communicating, whether in writing or verbally
  • Have a strong sense of prioritization and can coordinate multiple demands in a high-pressure environment

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
For this role the Associate Director must:
  • Have supervisory experience that demonstrates strong skills in providing and/or supervising street outreach and case management services under a low-barrier, housing first model
  • Have experience providing mental health services to people with co-occurring or tri-morbid conditions and who are experiencing homelessness
  • Demonstrate expertise in field-based case management interventions, Housing First, Critical Time Intervention, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Have reliable transportation and:
    • A valid driver’s license
    • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
    • The ability to qualify for PATH insurance coverage
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
    • Tuberculosis Test
    • Background Screening
    • Drug Test

COVID-19 VACCINATION
Effective 11/01/2021 PATH will require all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. All prospective hires will be expected to provide proof of full vaccination as part of the pre-employment credentialing process.
