Summary
: The Finance Grants Management (FGM) team at PATH is responsible for managing the financial aspects for all of PATH’s grants and contracts, totaling approximately $120M with 40+ government and private funders and 150+ different grant awards, and including invoicing, receivables collection, grant budgeting, grant budget tracking, reporting, and fiscal compliance. The FGM team is led by the Senior Director of Finance Grants Management and includes a team of 1 Director, 1 Associate Director, 4-6 Specialists and 1-2 Coordinators and Associates.

The Grants Finance Specialist is responsible for all grant and contract analysis, invoicing, monitoring, and reporting as well as assisting management with collections, budgeting, and internal reporting. This position interfaces externally with funders to ensure accurate timely invoicing and smooth monitoring visits, and with program personnel to ensure optimal grant financial performance. The Grants Finance Specialist must have a minimum of two years’ experience in accounting, grant invoicing, or data management in a complex non-profit environment, preferably for homeless services, and be comfortable working in a demanding job requiring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a very fast paced environment.

  • Each Grants Finance Specialist will have a portfolio of grants and contracts and will be responsible for all grant accounting activities for that portfolio
  •  Maintain a thorough knowledge of all grant and contract financial and invoicing requirements and ensure that all grant accounting activities are congruent with such requirements.
  •  Invoicing and Receivables Responsibilities Include:  Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual invoices and reports to funders, accurately and on a timely basis .
  • Reconcile grant invoice discrepancies
  •  Interface with funder personnel to resolve any issues surrounding invoices, including disallowed expenses
  • Work with other finance, compliance, and accounting staff to Review accounting entries to accurately charge costs to specific grants
  • Perform periodic reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to GAAP, Uniform Administrative Guidance Title 2 CFR 200, and funder specific regulation
Qualifications: 
  •  Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or comparable work experience
  • Two to five years’ minimum experience in accounting, grant invoicing, fiscal grant compliance, data management or equivalent experience, preferably in a non-profit environment within Los Angeles County
  •  Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word, and familiarity with the rest of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced financial reporting skills
  •  Demonstrated ability to work with a complex non-profit chart of accounts
  •  Familiarity with Sage Intacct accounting software desirable
  •  Familiarity with various federal, state, county, and city grant financial requirements and systems desirable
  •  A highly motivated self-starter, with proven ability to analyze data
  •  Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure and time sensitive environment
  •  Project a professional demeanor and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
